INTERVIEWER: Hairy Dawg, you are the personification of Intimidation, with a capital “I.”
HAIRY DAWG: It is a tough job but with the winning tradition at UGA, if there is no intimidation others are likely to try and run over you. We have set the bar high to keep that from happening.
INT: But bulldogs are known to be friendly, great companions, and wonderful with children. Just look at Uga, the real bulldog mascot. I imagine you two are friends, right?
HAIRY DAWG: Uga and I tend to get along quite well. We are two different dawgs working together to achieve the same goal. We have a great time doing this in front of the Bulldawg Nation!!
INT: So, talk to me: what do you do to prepare for a game? Take me through your routine.
HAIRY DAWG: I wake up on game day and start out with some gator tails and chicken wings followed by a tall glass of orange juice (sorry Otto)!! I visit our dedicated fans at their tailgates and then have the privilege of leading the greatest team into the stadium through the Dawg Walk!!
INT: You look like a walking advertisement for a health club. What do you do to stay in shape?
HAIRY DAWG: Well, to get my secrets it will cost $19.95 (plus shipping & handling)… HA HA!! Let’s just say that the ladies can’t resist and we will leave it at that!
INT: And you have no neck. Does that make it hard for you to turn your head? Do rivals, or fans sneak up behind you, thinking you can’t move quickly?
HARY DAWG: Turning my head is somewhat difficult, but I am more athletic than anyone trying to sneak up behind so that is never a problem.
INT: What routine, or move, is guaranteed to raise the spirit of University of Georgia fans?
HAIRY DAWG: Once I enter the stadium the spirit doesn’t slack, but if we need a “re-charge” all it takes is a run of our flag through the end zone.
INT: One more thing….what’s life like for a mascot? Do you get the star treatment, or are you just a regular ol’ dawg?
HAIRY DAWG: How could anyone think of treating the one and only Hairy Dawg as a “regular ol’ dawg”?? I am very fortunate to have earned a lot of respect from our friends and fans over the years. Because of this, I can honestly say that I am not only man’s best friend, but the Bulldawg Nation’s best friend… And what could ever be better than that!?!
